July 24 – 25, 2009Just a short newsletter for this weekend’s events! ^_^ Friday, July 24th- First up is the Bay Area premiere of Miyazaki’s newest film Gake no ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea), screening at Wheeler Hall. It was Japan’s biggest box office hit in 2008, so don’t miss it! Saturday, July 25th- Following his film on Saturday, there is both a symposium discussing Miyazaki’s work and his international influence, as well as an interview and award ceremony with Miyazaki at UC Berkeley. - Later that evening is the VAMPS Concert! Featuring Oblivion Dust guitarist K.A.Z. and L’arc~en~Ciel vocalist Hyde, the show will start at 9pm at the Grand Ballroom in SF.
