  1. I've seen my share of anime TV shows over the years, but haven't really completed viewing many. The last one I finally finished was "Black Lagoon," and was thoroughly disappointed with the ending. In my case, if I don't watch anime shows in marathon runs, I'll most likely end up not finishing them, or coming back to them years later.

So the most recent shows I've watched until the end were.. (And this is over a span of 5 years :P) Black Lagoon, Genshiken, Last Exile, She's the ultimate weapon.

Shows I've watched quite a bit of but never finished include, Gankutsuou, Gundam Seed, Samurai Champloo, Code Geas. Yea, a lot of quality titles. :P

oh mannnnn! i watched almost the entire series of Last Exile and i love the freaking series... but i have never watched the ending! i should put that on my list of things to do.

most shows i love enough to watch through and through, i end up buying the dvd set to finish it. i did this with Trigun, Evangelion, Samurai Champloo, and well, i bought the entire set of Gurren Lagann without having seen one bit of the show beforehand. i loved every single episode! Code Geass, i got impatient with, and just read ahead online about what happened. :)

i have watched a few shows online too over the last few years. i finished the entire series of Nagasarete Airantou, Ghost Hunt, and the first season of Zero No Tsukaima. I am currently in the middle of watching through Fate/Stay Night.

  3. Somehow haven't had much time lately to watch anime. -_- Last series I finished was Slayers Revolution. Almost done with Slayers Evolution-R... maybe I'll try finishing that up today...

I also started watching Last Exile a LONG time ago but really can't remember whether or not I finished it.

  4. I'm going to be finishing Eureka Seven up today. awesome series =].

Also, about the Black Lagoon ending being bad...well, the series never really, ended, did it? I thought there was gonna be a season 3.

I've seen Last Exile as well. Ending was...alright, I guess. Nothing special. I really did like a majority of the series, though. One huge gripe I had is that they killed off Dio. I really hated that =/. I wanted Al to save him when he went to take that...weird test thingy, but no...he was just killed off. Oh well =/.

  5. Oh I didn't know there would be another season of Black Lagoon. In that case I'll move it over to my incomplete list. Yea, The ending of Last Exile wasn't very satisfying, especially after such a stellar run. Maybe I just didn't want to see it end. :P

  6. yeah, exactly how I feel about Last Exile =P

  7. I recently finished watching Twelve Kingdoms. I also recently finished re-watching Le Chevalier D'Eon and Fate/Stay Night with anime club folks.

Endings are tough. Thinking about satisfying endings, Crest of the Stars comes to mind as a series where my favorite episode is the last one.

i think that could be another reason i've put off finishing Last Exile, i didn't want it to end! haha

well, i guess i really dont need to watch it now though, seeing as i know dio is going to die.

    xp

We can't have a discussion about RahXephon without mentioning episode... 21, was it? If you've seen the series you know what I'm talking about. That was masterful and sad and moving and almost worth watching the series just for that. Outside of that episode, it felt too ambitious for what it delivered and couldn't end itself satisfactorily, and just rode off the coattails of Eva.

To contribute, I most recently finished Konjiki No Gash Bell and Slayers Revolution. KnGB got me into the manga, but when the series diverges from the manga it goes downhill. Luckily that's 120, 130ish episodes in. Pretty good for a shounen series.

Slayers Revolution continues to deliver the classic Slayers fun. I've yet to start Evolution-R, even though I've been sitting on it for a while now. Ann, does it continue to rock?

  12. I'm on Evolution-R ep10 now and it feels like the series has been over half full of filler. Not sure how it's going to resolve itself in 3 episodes, but so far it hasn't been particularly dramatic so I'm guessing it will be a quick simple resolution rather than a dramatic epic one. It's nice to see more Slayers but the overall storyline in this new series isn't as interesting or cohesive as previous series'. Next was still the best!

I started RahXephon a LONG time ago and lost interest before getting anywhere near as far along as episode 21...

I used to watch everything but the more I watched the more picky I got, so getting to the end of a series or even giving a series more than 1 episode to pick up got more and more difficult.

Speaking of endings... GITS:SAC series 1 ending = awesome!

The last series I watched to the end was Lucky Star.
Last Exile and RahXephon were both awesome series with unsatisfying endings. Despite the endings I would recommend both. I like being able to enjoy a series without worrying about the ending. Enjoy the journey and all that. Although it is better if the ending is good too :)
I always try to watch a series to the end. Usually if I'm not enjoying a series it's because of poor dubbing. I'll switch over to the subtitles and it gets better. I'd watch sub all the time, but there are a lot of english voice actors I like.
Two series I remember with great endings are Chrno Crusade and Haibane Renmei.
Stythys, that was a cool site. I've got an Access database of anime that I've watched, but that yours is online lets you network with other people and it probably get's backed up regularly. Pretty cool.

I just watched the last episode of Eden of the East. I gotta say I liked this show. It was kind of a breath of fresh air for me to watch an anime centering around people my age since I've been watching a lot of of moe slice of life type of shows (K-ON, Lucky Star, and etc..)

Seto no Hanayome. Just got the OVAs so gonna watch those next. Finished Lucky Star+OVA not that long before that. Need to finish off Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae (3rd season) as well.

  17. I finished Eden Of The East last night, i'll finish Kyouran Kazoku Nikki tonight, and in a few days hopefully I can finish K-ON.

  18. I just finished Blood+ marathon style over a couple weekends O.o

Finished Higashi no Eden recently as well; I thought the journey is more interesting than the ending. Anime age is funny...I was watching Tetsuwan Birdy Decode and the old looking reporter sempai with a full beard is supposed to be in his 20's. I'm so old >.<

  19. agh, didn't really like the ending of blood+ =/

I don't remember the ending of Blood+ but I do remember a depressing ending. I liked the series as a whole though. Shorthaired Saya reminded me of Hitomi from Escaflowne for some reason.

The last episode of Eden of the East went by kinda quick but I like how it went out with a bang ;). I guess there's two movies coming out, it's gonna be a while until those are out on DVD and subbed though :(.
