KYAAA! Awful! They should have just done a live action remake of the cartoon movie instead.

Yeah, it was pretty miserable. I'm not sure which is worse - that it was so bad, or that I chose to see it even though I knew it would be...

The previews made it look just typically bad and didn't reveal the awful story in the actual movie. I was expecting it to be kind of like the first one (which I didn't like much either, but it was at least still in that typical expected level of bad range) but with more action. It turned out instead to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life, shockingly even trumping Chun Li to become the stupidest anime/cartoon/game-based live action movie of all time in my memory (probably because I can't for the life of me remember anything about the Super Mario movie and I am pretty sure I don't want to).
Anyway the original cartoon was for really young elementary school kids. It was obvious that this movie was targeted at an older teen age group. Please tell me that older teens these days are smarter than this...

I figured it would be bad. Some of my friends have been trying to get me to go watch Transformers but I'll be damned if I go pay $10 to watch a movie that I have a feeling I don't like. Though in all honesty I refuse to go to the movies anyways because I see all movies being released as shit and not worth my money and usually not worth my download.

Also, that guy at Fanime (the masquerade mc) also warned that GI Joes is gonna be godawful.

oh, you negative nellies, you.
yes, the movie's storyline was pretty terrible.. nowhere near as polished and full of character as the first live action movie, which was wholly enjoyable for me. hell, i loved it. the second one though, was chockfull of plotholes and bits of story that went unexplained or left unexplored, and characters that just seemed to vanish from the film entirely.
regardless, i had a lot of fun watching this sequel. i was entirely won over with the cg fx, explosions, badass vehicles, and of course, the giant robot on giant robot action. the fight scenes.. oh god, the fight scenes.... amazing. oh yes, and the hot chicks. they helped keep the ride smooth for me too. :)
i'll take this movie for what it is, a fun actiony super robotic extravaganza, and focus on it's positives. i'm actually interested in seeing it again, but on imax. haha

I haven't seen the movie yet, but this was an entertaining read http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/06/bonus_robs_transformers_2_faqs.php?page=1
Spoilers galore, but at this point does anyone carePosted 2 years ago # -
as ridiculous as it sounds, that FAQ is 100% accurate to the plot of the movie

Wow to that guy's FAQ. I feel sorry for him that he was able to remember all the details.

yea....I only read like 5% of it and I'm already fed up...
thank goodness I didn't waste my time "acquiring" it.

I have to agree with shocktv3. I went in expecting a big explosion-filled CG movie, and that's pretty much what I got. I've read reviews in some places where people complained that even the CG was horrible, but... either my eyesight is really going from age, or I'm just not seeing it.
I figure GI Joe's going to be the same. I don't really go to movies like these for the story, plot consistency, or character, after all. And I know there've been movies I've enjoyed much less. Angel's Egg, for instance :P

I finally gave in and watched this movie this weekend. Went in expecting the worst movie I've seen so far this summer, and can't say it wasn't. My friends and I made the decision to go see a matinee, sit in the balcony, and MST3K this movie. To my surprise, it was hard to make rapid-fire smarmy comments, not because the story wasn't terrible (that FAQ is frighteningly accurate), but because it is a movie that kept me rapt by explosions and fighting. All in all, it was very entertaining and I'm glad I saw it.
Still, there are many scenes that were superfluous and my ADD self would've preferred a cut-down on the run time. And it seems that instead of just too many worthless human characters like in the first movie they added worthless Transformers as well. And with all the humping that went on, I don't think I recall any of it that was human-on-human.
But then today I watched the animated movie again. It is still amazing. I'll tear out your optics!
