new topic because I'm bored...and because ann twisted my arm....
so...where is everyone from?
I'm in San Ho.
Let's add one question with each post.
I live in Palo Alto.
And by question is..
What is your wishlist for the holidays )Christmas, Hanukkah, Quanza, etc..)?
Mine includes.
- Upgrades for some of my software like Flash, and photoshop.
- A capo and a strap for my quitar that I'm just learning to play.
- A new hat. (I'm a hat man)
- A party
I live in Berkeley.
Don't celebrate xmas or any of those listed.
What do you plan to do for new years?
I plan on watching the parade in NYC on TV then take my sister out for something to eat sense she says I never do anything but sleep and watch anime when I don't have work. >.<

What a nice bro! Wish mine would take me out to eat... Where are you taking her?
Oh hmm, now there's my question for everyone: What is your favorite kind of food?
I like mostly Japanese foods, but not sushi (I don't eat seafood). My tastes are geared more towards good beef (yakiniku, shabu shabu, sukiyaki), noodles (tonkotsu ramen, Hakata style!) and normal home cooking (karaage, curry, nikujaga). Oh! And kushiyaki with asparabacon, yum! I also like Japanese-style pasta which tends to have a lighter sauce.
Anyway...
I'm in Daly City, right near the BART on the very border of SF.
My wishlist:
- kotatsu (although I may be getting one soon, thanks to MoFoQ's mom getting rid of her old one... sweet!)
- A new Macbook/Pro!
- Some Wii games
- I'll throw in a new hat too (I stick with one, but it seems to have gotten lost -_-)
- And of course to get more active users on BayAnime!
Honestly don't have much of a plan for New Year's (Eve) yet. It is definitely going to have to involve some kind of tasty foods.
Hi I am in japantown ^_^ and in the sunset sometimes and on the east bay at others ^_^.
lets see ... I for christmas I wish that many people donate at least 1 toy to a charity, or that people volunteer at least 1 day in their community ^_^. I promise you will have fun seeing so many happy faces.
And for the new year, I will wake up very early to watch the very first sunrise ^_^, One thing you must remember is to keep the day stress free and anger free because this is how your year should be. Since the day before I cleaned top to bottom I should be able to relax and not have to work. Then I plan to go to the temple dressed in kimono to pray for a very happy new year. Then I am looking forward to playing various games with my family such as flying tako , playing karuta and Hanetsuki which is like badminton, but if you don't hit the ball you get a black mark on your face.( quite funny). Then in the venening we will have osechi ryori ( is like a bentou box but it has at least 4 box levels and they are so yummy)
Then I plan on watching "kohaku uta gassen", a show were you can see your favorite singers sing.
well that is what I will be doing.
also for those of you who like japanese culture maybe you want to see a mochozuki making the JCCCCNC has some events for this check them out ^_^
usagi
alrighty,
1) east side cupertino (the "bad" part of town, and by "bad" i mean the high school in this area is slightly worse than the west side's high school, but in fact, it's actually quite nice here.)
2) holiday wishlist -- more free time! i've found that no matter how much bling and cashmoneys you have, it's all pointless if you don't have any free time to enjoy it...
3) no new years plans yet -- i usually spend it with my folks. for some reason they have some sort of weird attachment to me.
4) i'm a fan of the japanese curry... there's actually a curry house down here (it used to be a southern cali franchise), i highly recommend it!
5) ummm...what name do you use at underground freestyle rap battles? i go by "dr. mike-2dogg".
"what name do you use at underground freestyle rap battles?"
Whatever name I go by in that arena, I think I'll end up being called "Chump" or "Sissy bitch."
As for my favorite food, that's tough since my list is ever changing, but I'll never say no to a nice juicy steak with rice and potatoes, carrots, green beans, squash, etc... :P
I'll probably be in South Korea with family during new years. I don't expect it to be too exciting.
Here's a question,
What do you want to accomplish in 2009?
Next year I hope to get to know a lot more local artists and anime / manga fans. I'll definitely be checking out more conventions and other related events. I've also got a bunch of projects like animatins, comics, and games that I'm hoping to finish up in the next few months. I guess I'm pretty optimistic about 09. The economy might be humping a toilet, but as they say every problem is an opportunity in disguise.
ahahaha....well..let's see...my wish list....a boatload of cash. lol
and I don't mean a row-boat :p
as for new years....dunno...nothing planned at the moment.
as for what I want to accomplish in 2009...see my first sentence of this post.
let's see.....another question....how long have each of ya known each other or is it fairly new?
(for instance, I've known Ann for like...what...almost 15 years?...wow...we're turning into geezers, ann)
I think there are going to be a bunch of cultural holiday events around Japantown in December and for New Year's... hmm... must get more info (what's JCCCCNC?)...
Do you speak Korean, lifepoint1?
Mmm, Japanese curry! There are Curry Houses in Hawaii too so I've been to a couple there and they were all right. There's more variety at the Curry Houses in Japan where they have some crazy levels of spiciness. I don't quite remember but I think I tried a level a bit past the midpoint but nowhere near the spiciest, and it was so hot that it was basically inedible (and I'm usually really tolerant of spicy foods)! Incidentally, I'm a big fan of their salad dressing.
I can't rap at all and I don't think I should ever try. ^^;;
Let's see, I've gotten to know everyone in this thread only pretty recently in some way or another through having worked on BayAnime (woo!) except for MoFoQ, who I know through the old Slayers website I made in high school (he used to write summaries). I've met everyone else exactly once in real life so far except for TianLord.
Mmmmm...curry...
I've gotta learn how to make the rue from scratch one of these days....since the store-bought one (S&B or House or whatever) contains MSG... :(

Does talking to someone on a forum count as knowing?

What a nice bro! Wish mine would take me out to eat... Where are you taking her?
I know I'm that awesome ;p
Think I saw a Cantonese restaurant on shattuck probably there.
hmm i'm planning to check out Fremont Holiday Faire, the fact that it mentioned something about some sort of inking workshops interest me.
-I met some of you a couple of weeks ago ^_^
What do you want to accomplish in 2009?
1. finsh my DS games, i've always started playing, but never finished any except for LifeSigns:Emergency Unit.
2. Improve my art skills with regards to both digital and traditional practices.
3. Join and enjoy all the cons I've always wanted to check out!
4. Learn new dishes to cook (I'm also a cook :3 )
5. Many more....
Wishlist:
1. Artbooks (Project Coo+ coming out 2009, FusionJunction 1 and Special, and so on....)
2. More markers <3 copic or deleter preferrably.
3. Nintendo DSi :D
4. new clothes D; I'm not that of a shopper, so I don't have a wide array of wardrobe. Slacks/jeans +shirt always suits me fine.
5. Kingdom Hearts 3!
6. many more...
I'm from San Jose, particularly nearby Milpitas. :D

About as well as I speak english, I suppose
I've probably known everyone here at BayAnime for about a month now.
What other languages can everyone else speak?... as in relatively fluently.
I started to learn a bit of Korean from a friend of mine when I was living in Shanghai (although strangely enough he taught me in Japanese). The alphabet is awesome; after a few hours of memorization I was able to actually read all Korean. The grammar is pretty much exactly the same as Japanese, and most words sound like the Japanese/Chinese counterpart so I was thinking I could pick it up quickly.
Anyway at some point in my life I could speak Japanese and Mandarin Chinese quite well, but since I have no one to speak to these days both are probably rapidly deteriorating.
u'r in the bay....u should at least be able to keep up your mandarin.
(though if u knew cantonese, that might be easier to maintain).
I use to speak french too...but that was a different time ago....LOL
hmmm...xmas wish list?
a big paper bag stuffed with untraceable cash.
Not rubbles or rupees...but good ol' American greenbacks.
And no "owner" for 'em.
shoot...a winning lotto ticket would do too. ;)
foreign languages :)?
I grew up talking Filipino, although, I'm not very fluent with the old Tagalog words, I know slang mainly :3
English of course is my mother tongue :D
A little bit of Spanish, mainly because some Filipino phrases are as similar to some Spanish phrases. Plus I have a 'My Spanish Coach' for my DS, lets me learn at my own pace, a little at a time.
Verbal Japanese :D I had basic verbal Japanese during one summer during my high school days, so I know basic Japanese sentence and question construction, but I'm not good with pronouns and other advanced stuffs. I got 'My Japanese Coach' and its actually helping me learn how to draw and recognize characters :D
Basic Phrases in different language. I'm a li'l geeky with languages, so I know some phrases like, Hi! hello! Thank you! Bye! in French, Vietnamese and Chinese ^_^
http://www.survivalphrases.com is where I learned them all :)
I'm from Oakland and I love the diversity of area. =] These days I'm usually playing Magic: The Gathering, go, or just chilling out at coffee shops to study for school.
I can speak Korean and conversational Spanish. I took up studying Cantonese and Japanese, but those fell on the wayside since I didn't use them much. If I was dropped in the middle of Mexico, I could (probably) speak good enough Spanish to get to the nearest U.S. embassy.
Hmmr. I tend to like Ethiopian and Indian cuisine because of the spiciness of their dishes.
o.O back again ^.^V lots of questions... Many good ones to help me think about the upcoming year too!
(>^.^)><(^.^<)
Location: Santa Cruz
WishList: camera
cintiq
markers
sea horses!
*hint hint Brigade*
New Year Plan: I really really hope Brigade and I can spend New Years at either Disneyland or Universal Studio. I love the story space these parks provide during the holidays! So0o many lights, and colors, and music, and everyone smiling... I love it.
Favorite Food: Seasonal foods (i.e pumpkin anything during Halloween-New Years, red and pink sprinkles during February, and so forth).
Name used during underground freestyle battles: Ena Rie Marquie o.0;
2009 Aspirations: This one is a process still in the works. 2008 has brought me alot of heartache and in these ending months of the year I've been working hard to rebuild parts of my life I had lost, and incorporating aspects I've longed for. Wish me luck!
How long have each of ya known each other: I sadly don't know anyone personally from here aside from Brigade obviously, and I've known him for 8 years now.
Other Stuff: I can speak some Spanish and Japanese, and I only understand Tagalog when my grandmother speaks to me. I have a BA in Computer Science with a focus on game design, and prior to my soul searching I have a year of graduate school under my belt (I'm exploring other areas nowadays, Thanks Anne ^.^V).
One of my many memorable experiences I've had thus far has been presenting a project I worked on at the Game Developers Conference, Maker Faire, and Where Faire. I do enjoy the limelight very much <3 ^.^V What memorable experience have you guys enjoyed?
Happy December 1st, everyone! ::I really love the holidays::
I let Clover do most of the talking. /yawn.
A lot of talented people here. Art and languages O_o. I speak pretty much english, and still draw via stick figures. I'm good at games though. And science... arguing too.
That and I want Ramen. I'm boring though, I just eat the Shio Ramen.
Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving by the way.
Clover and Brigade! You guys are back!!! What have you both been up to? What "other areas" are you exploring these days, Clover? What's the project you presented?
