    Hey y'all,

I just got to the bay area (Oakland to be exact) from Georgia. When I was back in Ga. I was president of my uni's anime club for a year, firmly established my status as a nerd. Totally sad I'm missed/missing DragonCon, AWA, and JapanFest. So now that I'm on the other coast I'm looking forward to getting involved with the good nerdy times here.

My favourite types of anime on the large scale is shoujo especially magic shoujo. But I watch a lot of different types. I just started watching Ristorante Paradsio and Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei online. I like Asian dramas as well. When it comes to video games I'm a nintendo girl for life and I like playing DDR as well, though I haven't in a few months. I'm studying for the JLPT 4 for December as well.

really glad I found this site today.

  2. Hi princesscupcake, welcome to the Bay Area! There's a ton of anime-related activities, cons, and festivals going on here year-round, so just keep an eye on our site calendar and you'll be sure to find something. There's the CAA anime club near you at UC Berkeley, and they're holding a con (Anime Destiny) next month. If you can make it out to the SF area at some point there's always Japantown and we'll definitely be holding more social meetups there in the future.

  3. hiyas princesscupcake! =)

welcome to the bay & to bayanime!

is it me or has 2009 been a magical girl (your fav genre) & a mecha (my fav genre) drought?

    btw...have you checked out bakemonogatari?

it has similar animation style to Zetsubou & has the same voice actor as Sensei.

since you'll be taking the JLPT 4, what might be interesting to you is that bakemonogatari has a lot of witty & clever word play with the japanese language & characters.

i hope ya ace the exam!

    Thanks ann and Dyrl84.

I've only briefly been through JapanTown but I'm looking forward to checking it out. I'm hoping to go see NaNa tomorrow at the Viz Cinema.

Yea, y'know the only new magic girl anime I've seen this year is Fresh Pretty Cure! it's been a slow year. I'll have to check out Bakemonogatari thanks for the tip.

heh, I hope I ace this exam too. I can speak japanese but learning kanji has been a long adventure.

Computers are your friend! Honestly I can barely write anything in Japanese or Chinese without my computer anymore...

I don't know if anyone here's going to watch Nana tonight, but Laurel's gathering a group to watch Honey and Clover next week:

Yes the computer has been helping me out immensely studying for this test. Nana was neat and getting out over there by bus was fairly painless. I'll have to see how things go as far as HnC. I've seen the anime but not the movie as of now.
