  1. Finally finished watching it again (the last time I saw this series was before it was officially released domestically), and I remember why I didn't like 2ng Gig as much as the first... the ending is such a downer! Did anyone else think the Tachikoma's sacrifice just didn't seem to affect anyone (especially Batou) as much as it should have? Plus Kuze's death was so anticlimactic. Super sad all around...

Anyway I know the Tachikomas reappear in Solid State Society (presumably due to their own foresight in backing themselves up in cyberspace) but it just seems weird that Section 9 wouldn't have a backup/replicated their data onto multiple satellite servers.

Hmm...I was ok with the ending. I think you're right about Kuze's death in regards to it being anticlimactic. Although his death wasn't a surprise. It was sad that after all that time they were finally reunited but on opposite sides AND he dies shortly thereafter.

  3. Yeah Kuze's death wasn't a surprise, but it was still kind of just a short little bit scene and it was definitely a downer. I mean, you just knew the Major was not cool with everything at the end and it's no surprise that she left the team later.

The first series ending was really upbeat by comparison. It kept the crazy build-up going right until the end, and the resolution was unpredictable and very satisfying. And the bad-ass Laughing Man hacker kid got to live to hang out in his ultra cool library (too bad he didn't join the team... THAT would have been REALLY awesome!).
