I wasn't immediately hooked but I must admit that the show has gradually grown on me. </p> <p>After the first few episodes I began thinking about Spike's character and how he reminded me of a "wandering samurai" anitihero archetype. What was kinda cool was at the same moment that I came to this realization the following scene occured. In episode 3 in the casino there was a scene where patrons watched a black and white samurai flick while Spike walked casually by and jingled chips in one hand and then Spike paused to look at the screen. The last one I finally finished was "Black Lagoon," and was thoroughly disappointed with the ending. In my case, if I don't watch anime shows in marathon runs, I'll most likely end up not finishing them, or coming back to them years later.</p> <p>So the most recent shows I've watched until the end were.. (And this is over a span of 5 years :P) Black Lagoon, Genshiken, Last Exile, She's the ultimate weapon.</p> <p>Shows I've watched quite a bit of but never finished include, Gankutsuou, Gundam Seed, Samurai Champloo, Code Geas. Also I just finished Bokurano and want to talk about it somewhere. </p> <p>Bokurano was... it started off really exciting and sad, a very interesting look at how different people act when faced with death (in mecha form!). But near the end of the series, it just became very bland to me. Maybe it had something to do with the sporadic release of scanlations, maybe I was expecting more out of the series, maybe I was expecting less, but the final 3 or 4 character storylines I cared nothing about. For what the story was, they tried to force together too many connections and prolong the natural end for too many chapters. Feel free to be more descriptive about what you like about a certain anime, etc.</p> <p>For myself, Hana Yori Dango is my all around #1 series; I love the anime, manga, live action series, movie, live action movie, etc. I did NOT care for Meteor Garden though, but that's it. Now why do I love HYD so much? I really like Makino's character. She can be frustrating at times, but she's very independent and she definitely softens up (finally) over time, but it takes a LOT. She's poor, she's proud, she doesn't take crap from anyone. But she's very caring and looks out for her loved ones. And Doumyoji.. oh my gosh, I love him! They are perfect for each other. Sorry Rui, you aren't the one for her, no way! Anyways, it's your typical drama/soap opera romance and I'm a sap for those kinds of things. I'll take reality over space demons any ol' day! And I love this series so much, that years ago, I spent a lot of money trying to find all the toys and goods that came from the anime. I have almost all of the toys (like the bath scrubs, the recorder, fortune teller thing, etc). It's all worth it to me though :) </p>
