Some things aren't always the same between the 2. And some thing's you might miss. For example, if you only read the manga, you may never realize that Tobi's voice changes... or the whole arc with the "bubbles" guy (which may be for the better except that they tied it in at the end to the main story... weakly).</p> <p>I only know because a friend has been trying to get me to read it for a while now, and follows both. But I think I might start skipping the anime if I do that, so I've been resisting, haha. On the other hand though, I think things might happen in the manga that don't make it to the screen. I wasn't immediately hooked but I must admit that the show has gradually grown on me. </p> <p>After the first few episodes I began thinking about Spike's character and how he reminded me of a "wandering samurai" anitihero archetype. What was kinda cool was at the same moment that I came to this realization the following scene occured. In episode 3 in the casino there was a scene where patrons watched a black and white samurai flick while Spike walked casually by and jingled chips in one hand and then Spike paused to look at the screen.
