Animemyu

By: • Posted: Sep 25, 2008 • 7 Responses »

Animemyu is a not for profit performance and musical group whose main goals are to create bridges between cultures and to bring hope to children and those who watch our shows by using Japanese animation as the medium.

We believe that by sharing our hearts on stage with our audience we can connect and maybe change the world for the better. Animemyu has done shows primarily as community service at fairs, festivals, parades, and Japanese animation festivals. This year one of our wishes came true as Usagi was invited down to Tijuana, Mexico to do a one hour concert in Japanese as Sailor Moon for the Mexican audience. ^_^

Animemyu’s dream is to inspire others to help people in their communities.

How much do we charge? The answer is nothing, because the smiles of children, families, and cosplayers are enough payment for us! ^_^

How do we afford our costumes? We use recycled materials from old costumes or, like me, we save for a year until we have enough to buy the materials to make our costumes by hand. ^_^

How do we have money for our shows? We are sponsored by caring individuals and companies who donate bubbles for kids, and also by Japan Video and Media who donates the use of a sound system.

Bay Area Artists Unite (BAAU)

By: • Posted: Sep 9, 2008 • 4 Responses »

BAAU: a collective group of artists located in California’s San Francisco Bay Area, devoted to the personal and professional growth of those within our community.

Joining BAAU: is as easy as attending a meet. We are a pretty easy-going bunch of people. Skill level doesn’t matter; just a passion, a passing interest, or even a mere curiosity for art is enough for us. Find out about the next meet at the BAAU forum: http://baau.org/forum/

At BAAU meets: we hang out, draw, chat, play video games, whatever there is to do depending on the surroundings. Sometimes we work on comics, have tutorials, or just eat a bunch of fast food in a crowded noisy mall.
