August 14 – 16, 2009Lots of things happening this weekend! Friday, August 14th- Free screening of Kamikaze Girls showing in Japantown tonight, celebrating the grand opening of New People the following day. First come, first served, so arrive early! Saturday/Sunday, August 15th/16th- The New People Grand Opening!! This is going to be a huge event, and in addition to the cinema, retail, art, and food at New People, the celebration will be accompanied by the J-POP SUMMIT Festival, a pop culture-themed street fair that covers the grounds of Post Street from Webster. The BayAnime group will be meeting at the Peace Plaza pagoda at 11, when everything starts =D. - Japan Nite, presented by New People, showing Saturday and Sunday, featuring bands such as The Noodles, TsuShiMaMiRe, and more. - Best known for his character designs for Final Fantasy and Gatcha-man, Yoshitaka Amano will attend a free public panel discussion for the Summit Festival. Also later on, there will be a special autograph session at the SUPERFROG Gallery. - In conjunction with Lords of the Samurai, AsiaAlive is showing three Japanese martial art forms, free with general admission.
